Als die 3 groÃŸen Karnevalshochburgen gelten die StÃ¤dte Rio de Janeiro, Salvador da Bahia und Olinda-Recife. Die weltweit grÃ¶ÃŸte BerÃ¼hmtheit hat der von Rio erlangt, der jedes Jahr hunderttausende Besucher aus Brasilien und dem Ausland anlockt. Der grÃ¶ÃŸte Karneval Brasiliens und somit auch der ganzen Welt ist jedoch der in Salvador.

An important part of the Brazilian Carnival takes place in the Rio Carnival, with samba schools parading in the Sambadrome ("sambÃ³dromo" in Portuguese). It’s the largest carnival event in this country, considered to be the largest of the kind in the world. Called "One of the biggest shows of the Earth", the festival attracts millions of tourists, both Brazilians and foreigners who come from everywhere to participate and enjoy the great show. Samba Schools are large, social entities with thousands of members and a theme for their song and parade each year. Blocos are generally small informal groups also with a definite theme in their samba, usually satirical of the current political situation. But there are also a lot, about 30 of them in Rio de Janeiro, that are very big in number of participants, gathering hundreds of thousands of people. There are more than 200 blocos in Rio de Janeiro. Bandas are samba musical bands, usually formed by enthusiasts in the same neighborhood.

An adapted truck from Salvador, with giant speakers and a platform where musicians play songs of local genres such as AxÃ© music, Samba-reggae, Pagode and Arrocha, is driven with the following crowd both dancing and singing. It was originally staged by two Salvador musicians, Dodo & Osmar, in the 1950s.

Pernambuco has large Carnival celebrations, including the Frevo, typical Pernambuco music. Another famous carnival music style from Pernambuco is Maracatu. The cities of Recife and Olinda also host large carnival celebrations in Brazil. The largest carnival parade in all of the world according The Guinness Book of World Records is named Galo da Madrugada, which takes place in downtown Recife on the Saturday of carnival. Another famous event is the Noite dos Tambores Silenciosos.

En Brasil se celebra el carnaval mÃ¡s extendido y famoso del mundo. Los centros mÃ¡s importantes son las ciudades de Salvador de BahÃa, RÃo de Janeiro y SÃ£o Paulo. En el carnaval brasileÃ±o desempeÃ±an un rol central las escolas de samba y los blocos, conjuntos muy elaborados de danza, mÃºsica y canto, que desfilan por las calles (en Salvador) y en "sambÃ³dromos" (en SÃ£o Paulo y RÃo De Janeiro). Las mÃºsicas del carnaval es el samba y el axÃ©. New Hope & Ivyland Railroad

Relax as you travel through the rolling hills and valleys of historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and experience first hand the sights, sounds and romance of the Golden Era of Steam Railroading.

Climb aboard the New Hope & Ivyland passenger train and travel into a scene from the past. Relax and leave your cares behind as you journey into history, learning what rail travel was like for your parents, grand parents and great-grand parents. Behold the continuously changing view as the train traverses through the rolling hills and valleys of historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Enjoy our restored 1920s vintage passenger coaches, antique bar car, the authentic steam locomotive or one of our historic diesel locomotives. The train will take you along the same historic route that was filmed in the 1914 movie series Perils of Pauline. You can purchase your tickets in the original witch’s hat New Hope train station, which was once the location of the railroad telegraph operator who sent and received all messages for the town of New Hope, PA. This building has been in operation since 1891.
